Keywords and keyphrases are very important to consider when creating a website. This serves as the anchor text for your website. This will also be the keys or word(s) to be entered by the internet user in the search box when searching for a particular topic.

But before you pick your own the keywords or key phrases, you may want to search it first so that you will know how many websites or how many search results is competing with that keyword. Search also the top ten websites related to that keyword using Google site explorer to determine the strength or page rank of those websites. These websites are your competitors for that word or phrase.

If you found out that these sites are really established one, then it is better to look for another keyword with less competitor within. But of course, you need consider the number of searches of your chosen keywords. It is better to compete with that of 100,000 plus searches than of those with million plus. Well, I would like to reiterate that this is only a suggestion and it is your sole discretion if you’ll follow or not. LOL
